With root *-Reŋ ‘groan, moan, snore’. The penultimate accent in Tagalog hígiŋ and Cebuano húguŋ is unexpected, and may indicate that these forms belong elsewhere. Since no clear semantic agreement can be found between them, I assume that the reduplicated forms of *heReŋ in several languages are products of parallel evolution.
